"Snowsprites"

by Juliun Parterre

The day passes slow
As he waits to go
To that field that is just past a dream
Yet he goes on his way
As night turns from the day
And the world is covered in moonbeams

Though his memory is great
And what he does, he doesn't hate
He always forgets and returns
To that field in his mind
That is one of a kind
And from her dancing steps he might learn

When the sun goes down
And the moons arise
To be followed by night
And the stars in the skies
Then it's over the hills
And far away
And that's where the fields
Of snowsprites lay

Her name, does it matter? It's all worthless chatter
Her beauty, it puts words to shame
Violet eyes, how they gleam
Like the gloss on fresh cream
And her pale skin compliments this dame

And they dance in the sprites
Underneath the star's lights
Covered in dew from the flowers
They go on till sun strikes
When she suddenly takes flight
And escapes to her well hidden tower

When the sun goes down
And the moons arise
To be followed by night
And the stars in the skies
Then it's over the hills
And far away
And that's where the fields
Of snowsprites lay

Time went by in a flash
And all his friends had passed
On to a brighter life
Yet he stayed in his mind
And in her he would find
No dagger, or crossbolt, or knife

Although he's now jaded
The sprites never faded
They seem to grow stronger each day
You all must have guessed
He was dancing with death
And she doesn't give her victims away

When the sun goes down
And the moons arise
To be followed by night
And the stars in the skies
Then it's over the hills
And far away
And that's where the fields
Of snowsprites lay
