1. Upcoming Events:
THE 2ND ANNUAL JERYA GAMES!
On July 31st, challenge your friends, your foes, even yourself! The games
begin at the Crossing Amphitheater at 5 PM EST (type DIR AMPHITHEATER in
the game for directions). Small prizes and points will be awarded to
winners of individual events and larger prize packages to those with
highest overall scores. Come for an event . . . stay for the evening!

In addition, various bards will be performing throughout the evening for
your entertainment. Who will be crowned the next ruler of the Games?

BARD WRITING WORKSHOPS
Every 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, the Mentor Society will be
holding workshops on "How to Write Stories and Songs." The workshops will
last about an hour and will start at 10 PM EST at Jadewater Mansion in the
Gilded Room. Join us this for this month's workshops on August 5th and
19th!
MENTOR CLERIC LECTURES
The Mentor Society invites all interested clerics to nightly Clerical
Training sessions. Come learn from the best! Sessions will take place in
the Cleric Guild by the altar. Learn from the realm's top clerics as they
share their knowledge of both their guild and the lands.

2. New Releases:
ALTERNATE EXPERIENCE SYSTEM
The new Alternate Experience System is finally live! You can now gain
experience in larger amounts with fewer attempts and reduce the amount of
time spent working on less interesting, repetitive skills. Type EXP
ALTERNATE to turn it on and off and EXP ALTERNATE HELP to get information
on how it works.
NEW VERBS!
With the new SLEEP/AWAKE verbs, you can stop gaining experience for a
time. Although it is used primarily with the alternate experience system,
you'll find it helpful whenever you want to prevent yourself from gaining
new experience. Sleep eventually wears off depending on how much
experience it prevents you from gaining.
The SIGN verb, recently released for the Ranger Guild, allows rangers to
use hand gestures to send brief messages to other players in the same room
(if you understand the signs) and to other Rangers in adjacent rooms. The
descriptive messaging for individual signs is also an effective role
playing aid.

3. Premium News:
LARGER VAULTS!
Estate Holders will now receive shelf space for 130 items for the same 5
gold rental fee, instead of the usual 93. Along with this increase in
storage size, Premium subscribers also receive free, near-instantaneous
locker transfers and are able to pay their rental fee at any vault
location.
Members are advised that they will need to RUMMAGE through their vaults
instead of LOOKing in order to find items once the shelves start to get
full. Vault books will be unchanged, but members are urged to beware
checking their book in dangerous areas. All other terms of the usual
vault contract remain in effect. The Council hopes that everyone will
enjoy this added convenience!
COMING SOON: SUBSCRIBER REWARDS!
As an added benefit to long-term subscribers, a new reward system will be
introduced in October 1999. Premium subscribers who have maintained their
subscription for 52 weeks will receive an item-description alteration, and
those who have maintained their subscription for 104 weeks will be able to
participate in one of the quests specially scheduled for premium
subscribers!
DESIGN CONTEST CONTINUES!
There's still time to participate in this summer's exciting design contest
series! Submit one of the 12 winning designs and you not only receive a
custom character alteration, but your room could become a permanent area
in the game for meetings and special events! For more details and an entry
form, type PREMIUM 7 in-game. The final entry deadline is August 10th, so
start working on your design today!

4. News from Simutronics:
HERCULES & XENA NEW PLAYER NIGHT!
Join the Staff of Hercules and Xena: Alliance of Heroes this Sunday,
August 1st, for New Player Night! Beginning at 8 PM EST, mentors and hosts
will be on hand to answer your questions, share tips & hints, lead tours
through the land, and much more! This is an excellent opportunity to meet
with fellow adventurers and explore the online world of Hercules and Xena.

in to play. If you have any difficulty joining the tour, type ASSIST and a
host will be happy to help you.
MODUS OPERANDI OPEN HOUSE!
The tropical island paradise of Modus Operandi, with its white sandy
beaches and mysterious dark alleyways, beckons you to try out your
sleuthing skills! Join the Morada Island Guides and fellow players for a
special New Player Night and Open House on Sunday, August 15th. Meet at
the Tourist Information Center for guided tours of the island, beginning
at 5 PM EST.

CENTER to find your way there. Island Guides will be on hand to answer
