1. SimuCon Special Report:
SIMUCON 1999 WINNERS!
SimuCon '99 was a great success! This year's attendees spent the weekend
with birds of prey, sword-fighting pirates, a wickedly frustrating puzzle
pack, and that darn locked treasure chest! DragonRealms players went
above and beyond the call of duty in every competition with wonderfully
creative costumes, outstanding bardic performances, and twice the number
of calls to 911 than GemStone IV! (I'm sure someone will be happy to
explain THAT one on the message boards!)
Many DragonRealms players were big winners this year - read on to see who
walked away with the loot!
BARD SEARCH
Trul, Teamarie, Marcuso, and Taeliesin all won Instrument Alterations, and
their songs will be released in one of the DragonRealms Bard Shops!
SIMUSEUM
Crowolf's work amazed players and GMs alike, not only from DragonRealms,
but GemStone IV, Herc&Xena and Modus Operandi, too! Not only did he
bring examples of his character portraits, but also brought a life-sized
sculpture of a boggle! Look for pictures of his artwork to be up on the
web site soon! He's also the winner of an alteration of his choice!
COSTUME CONTEST
The DragonRealms players' costumes were incredible, giving the judging
team of Cadaya, Rottcloar, Maelona, and Atrathien a difficult job of
narrowing the field down to just three winners! After some intense
consultation, they announced three winners:
First place winner of one alteration and Three Months of Platinum Service:
Mohaun for his incredible jester costume!
Second place winner of one alteration and Two Months of Platinum Service:
Eaglewings with his beautiful leather vest and leggings combo!
Third place winner of one alteration and One Month of Platinum Service:
Iaasis for her beautiful dress!
Look for pictures of the winners and their costumes on the SimuCon Web
site and make sure to look for pictures of some of the GM's costumes and
see why GM Khaydra was swarmed with people wanting to take pictures of her
ears!
WHAT'S IN BARDON'S TREASURE CHEST?
Dozens of players now know that Bardon's chest held some pretty nice

2. New Releases:
BUDDY CONTEST WINNERS!
They told their friends about DragonRealms and now they're reaping the
rewards! We'll be picking three winners at the end of every month, so just
keep spreading the word and you could be next! The names of the new lucky

DIVINE RADIANCE UPGRADE
An improved version of Divine Radiance is now available to all clerics who
possess the spell. Having both targeted offensive capability against all
creatures and increased duration when self-cast, it is sure to be a
greater asset to your spell list. GemeMasters will be monitoring for
problems and will make adjustments as necessary.
In addition, the Spirit Beacon will no longer remain once the body has
been raised or departed, and a change was made to reduce the abuse of the
spell with novice characters. A similar modification has been made to
Focus Moonbeam, preventing it from being used on a beacon set inside or
underground. Be sure to watch in-game NEWS for all the latest spell
upgrades and changes!
NEW BACKTRACE SKILL
A new ability for Moon Mages is now in Premium Preview. To find out if
you are eligible for it, you'll need to ASK KSSARH ABOUT SKILL. Please
note that asking Kssarh about EXP and LEVEL still work as normal.

3. Upcoming Events:
SALES PITCH AND JOKE CONTEST!
Come join in an evening of fun! The Mentor Society will be hosting a
Sales Pitch Contest and a Joke Contest on October 9th. The Sales Pitch
Contest will begin at 8:00 PM (EST) and the Joke Contest will follow at
9:30 PM (EST) in the Crossing's Amphitheater. Both contests will be
judged on delivery and content. Remember no gibberish and keep the jokes
clean!
MOON MAGE GUILD MEETING!
There will be a Moon Mage "State of the Guild" meeting and Q&A session on
Monday, October 18th, at 10 pm EST (Location TBA). GM Rigby and GM Lifeir
will both be attending and invite all interested Moon Mages to join them
for a night of great discussion and fun. Watch in-game NEWS for updates on
the location.
EMPATH TEACHING SESSIONS
Join the Empath Mentors in the Empath Guild every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
EST for a teaching session. Come learn with this month's hosts:
October 6: Lillybelle, Damaria and Elynden.
October 13: Callyste, Ravwyn and Artianna.
October 20: Lillybelle, Artianna and Nynnia.
October 29: Damaria, Elynden and Kerai.

MODUS OPERANDI OPEN HOUSE!
The tropical island paradise of Modus Operandi, with its white sandy
beaches and mysterious dark alleyways, beckons you to try out your
sleuthing skills! Join the Morada Island Guides and fellow players for a
special New Player Night and Open House on Sunday, October 24th. Meet at
the Tourist Information Center for guided tours of the island, beginning
at 5 PM EST.

into play. Once in the game, just type DIR JOHNSTON TOURIST INFORMATION
CENTER to find your way there. Island Guides will be on hand to answer
the questions of new tourists and veteran travelers alike. We hope to see
