Greetings fellow adventurers!  The following is presented in hopes of making your hunting more than a wild goblin chase.   The creatures of the realms that I have encountered are listed below.  The list is not exhaustive nor is it meant to be the definitive guide, it is just a tool.  Each creature is described and rated as best I could from the skill level of a medium ranged fighter.   That is: Armor=90, Shield=40, Parry=70, Weapon=80, and Evasion=50.

5 star rating is used and is to be considered as follows:

1 star  = Good beginnings (roughly circles 1-5)

2 stars = Staple fare (roughly circles 5-10)

3 stars = Trains well in moderation (roughly circles 10-20)

4 stars = Fight at your discretion (roughly circles 20-35)

5 stars = Have a dragger on stand-by (roughly circles 35+)

By request from various guilds I have added the following as I could recall: (S) Skinable, (B) Carry Boxes, and (T) Carry Soul Stones

A

Arbelog Areas Sighted: West Wilds, Riverhaven area.
Description: The arbelog stands about six feet in height, humanoid in appearance, with inordinately long, muscular arms and prehensile-toed feet. It is covered with thick brown fur, lighter at the belly and face, a dark stripe running down its back. Large heavily lidded eyes peer out over a flat wrinkled nose and nearly lipless mouth.
Equipment: None. Rating: **

B

Striped Badger Areas Sighted: Brambles, Crossing area.
Description: The badger is a sturdy, wily-looking animal, with a low, sleek body, a flat head with a slender snout full of teeth, and a set of formidable claws. Its shiny fur is striped in brown and black and white. It waddles when it walks, but can move quickly when it needs to.
Equipment: None. Rating: *

Black Bear Areas Sighted: West Wilds, Riverhaven area.
Description: The black bear's hypnotic effect of swinging its head from side to side is dispelled when you realize that you have encountered a foe with sharp claws and a powerful jaw that is looking for its next meal.
Equipment: None. Rating: ***

Brown Bear Areas Sighted: Crossing area.
Description: The brown bear's hypnotic effect of swinging its head from side to side is dispelled when you realize that you have encountered a foe with sharp claws and a powerful jaw that is looking for its next meal.
Equipment: None. Rating: ***

Cave Bear Areas Sighted: Stone Clan, Crossings area.
Description: The cave bear's hypnotic effect of swinging its head from side to side is dispelled when you realize that you have encountered a foe with sharp claws and a powerful jaw that is looking for its next meal.
Equipment: None. Rating: ***

Beisswurm Areas Sighted: Stone Clan, Crossings area.
Description: The beisswurm does not seem to have the fully developed body of the lesser known adult. Long, thin and with razor sharp teeth, it slithers contentedly along the ground until it discovers its next meal. Only later in life does it grow legs and develop the ability to deliver icy breath.
Equipment: None. Rating: ***

Wild Boar Areas Sighted: Northeast Vineyards, Crossings area. Zaulfung, Riverhaven area. Woodlands, Langenfirth area.
Description: Standing on four legs the wild boar is small. It clearly views you as an enemy.
Equipment: None. Rating: *

Bobcat Areas Sighted: Out the west gate, Crossings area.  Aesry area.
Description: The bobcat is poised, graceful, and appears to be at ease yet ready to spring. It fixes its golden eyes on you, and you are mesmerized for a moment, yet your instincts scream to submission by looking away first. Finally the bobcat turns his attention elsewhere, looking bored by the encounter. Yet you are certain it will mark your every move with a wariness it does not show.
Equipment: None. Rating: *

Small Boggle Areas Sighted: Fallow fields, Shard area.
Description: Thin and dark black in color, the small boggle is a member of the Fae, its body composed seemingly of sticks and stones, its head round and bulbous and quite out of proportion with the rest of it. Perhaps the imagery that comes to mind when you gaze upon the foul mischief-maker is that of a rotten gourd ready to burst stuck onto the top of a beanpole with stick-like arms and legs and joints of pebbles. Known for its malicious tendencies -- including leading children or sheep into wells or spoiling milk before it has left the cow's udders -- the boggle is notorious for practical jokes that leave the victim confused, frustrated, and frequently dead..
Equipment: Short sword, target shield, hooded cloak. Rating:*

Blue Boobrie Areas Sighted: Zaulfung, Riverhaven area.
Description: Boobries are huge flightless heron-like birds, half again as tall as a human. Not content to eat worms and bugs, they prefer stabbing their victims with their vicious beaks. Through them, they suck out the juices, leaving a dried-out husk for the few desperate scavengers that will even approach such a sorry sight. One imagines it to be a very slow and painful death.
Even a sluagh thinks twice about messing with a boobrie.
Equipment: None. Rating: ***

Great Grey Boobrie Areas Sighted: Zaulfung, Riverhaven area.
Rating: ***

Brown Burrower Areas Sighted: Hunting Preserve, Crossings area.
Description: The burrower is a large insectile shape. Perhaps as big as a small Halfling. It runs about rapidly on many jointed legs. Colored a muck brown, its carapace glistens with a repulsive sheen. A large head, in which a quartet of enormous, multifaceted eyes refract all light into coldly glinting shards, is armed with a brace of wickedly serrated mandibles. A tiny mouth ringed with dozens of wriggling palps like boneless fingers serves to manipulate the grotesque fragments of flesh that it dines upon. The two front legs have been turned into fighting weapons, edged with hooks and jagged serrations curling back towards the waiting mandibles. Above all rises a horrid stink of indescribable rot and foulness. A reek that reminds you of an opened cesspit or a charnel house.
Equipment: None. Rating: *

C

Caracal Areas Sighted: M'Riss.
Description: The caracal looks like a small, muscular cougar with ridiculously long legs and a short, stubby tail. A tuft of fine hair sticks up from the top of each ear, and you'd almost laugh at it - if the creature weren't three feet long with impressive teeth, claws, and speed.
Equipment: None. Rating: ****

Asaren Celpeze Areas Sighted: Mer' Kresh.
Description: The asaren celpeze is a mottled lizard the size of a large hunting cat. Elven for "sea lizard", the asaren celpeze are generally content to bask on rocks or beaches near the ocean. Their tough hide is prized for armor, and their pointed teeth valued for many uses, from arrow points to being ground for alchemical compounds. Right now it is in full threat display: crest standing straight up, tail switching back and forth, and jewel-like eyes open wide. Its tongue flickers, tasting the air for the scent of prey, and a low hissing sounds deep in its throat. A more subtle sign of danger is the poisonous secretion glistening on the stinger at the end of its tail.

Equipment: None. Rating: ***

Cougar Areas Sighted: Dense Forest/Northeast Vineyards, Crossings area. Woodlands, Langenfirth area.
Description: The cougar has a powerful body that is all sinewy muscle, a perfect hunting and killing machine. Its short tan coat looks rough and dull from years in the wilds. Dark luminous eyes stare at you hypnotically.
Equipment: None. Rating: *

Salt Crab Areas Sighted: Salt Yards, Riverhaven area.
Description: Supported on multiple legs the salt crab is small. Its eyes blaze with a burning hatred, unfocused but entirely malevolent.
Equipment: None. Rating: *

Scarlet Crayfish Areas Sighted:  Riverhaven area.
Description: Supported on multiple legs the scarlet crayfish is small. Its eyes blaze with a burning hatred, unfocused but entirely malevolent.
Equipment: None. Rating: *

Morah Creeper Areas Sighted: Ker' Leor, Theren area.
Description: From a species of flesh-eating plant known to inhabit some of Elanthia's less-explored forests, the morah vine resembles a thorn vine, with its tapering body and razor-like leaves which cover it like plate armor. The reddish tip of each leaf should have indicated to you that this was a dangerous plant, but now that you are close enough to look at it, may the gods preserve you in your attempt to get away with your life.
Equipment: None. Rating: ***

Blue-belly Crocodile Areas Sighted: Swamps, Riverhaven area.
Description: Standing on four legs the blue-belly crocodile is humanoid size. It is obviously aggressive and looking for a fight.
Equipment: None. Rating: **

Cutthroat Areas Sighted: Undershard, Shard area.
Description: Like so many people who moved to Shard in the hopes of acquiring a new dream and a new life, the cutthroat is one of many who failed, having little choice but to take up the life of common scum just to get by in the world. From the way she eyes your money pouch, however, you're not sure exactly how much pity you can dish out to this person. After all, the cutthroat >did< make the decision to live her life this way...right?
Equipment: Broadsword, oval shield, chain shirt, chain gloves. Rating: ****

D

A'danf Spirit Dancer Areas Sighted: Meadow, Shard area.
Description: Like all of the Adan'f race, the spirit dancer vaguely resembles a large lizard, complete with blue-black scales and forked tongue. Slitted silver eyes are set deeply into its triangular skull, over triple rows of gleaming pointed teeth. A long, sinuous neck leads down to a graceful body, rippled with muscle. The spirit dancer's powerful legs give it great strength and speed, and its long curved tail lends it incredible balance.
Equipment: Rating: *****

Elba Darvager Areas Sighted: Aesry area.
Description: The elba Darvager is a queer creature, a product of some ill union between insect and dwarf. It looks like an over-muscled dwarf except for an extra set of long black "legs" that dangle from its midsection and a smooth, charcoal colored shell that shields its flesh body. A great horn grows out from the top of the shell, perhaps to scare off other beasts. Despite the elba Darvager's grotesque appearance there is obvious intelligence behind dark Dwarven eyes.
Equipment: Mattocks and small shields. Rating: *****

Wir Dinego Areas Sighted: Aesry area.
Description: The wir dinego is nothing more than the rotting corpse of some long since dead Human. What is left of its flesh hangs from its skeletal structure in rotting chunks that peel away to expose down to the bare bones. Dressed in what was obviously once its best attire, now only shreds hang off the body in tattered ruins. The empty eye sockets seem to glow with an eerie, unseen inner light that chills you to your very soul.
Equipment: None. Rating: *****

Retan Dolomar Areas Sighted: Pokekehekepi area.
Description: The retan dolomar is a squat, many-legged beast with a hard carapace. Rivaling a yak in mass, the dolomar has been known to kill and eat almost anything it could sink its pincers into. Desert legend suggests that it is this very beast that destroyed the entire population of the West Palms Oasis and halted trade to the northern and western quarters of the desert all together.
Equipment: None. Rating: *****

Blood Dryad Areas Sighted: Forest of Night, Leth area.
Description: The blood dryad's skin is dark brownish-black, and patterned like bark. A mane of hair composed of blighted and decaying leaves cascades down her back and shoulders and her glowing saffron eyes glare hatefully at you, as if accusing you of wrongs done to her kind in the past. Her hands end in massive claws that resemble branches, and a sticky, reddish substance covers her skin, glistening slightly.
Equipment: Hand axe, leather jerkin. Rating: **

Spiny Dyrachis Areas Sighted: Zaulfung, Riverhaven area.
Description: The dyrachis is a six-legged burrowing beast about the size of a yak. When it feels threatened, it can inflate air sacs beneath its skin to display its long sharp quills glistening with poison -- and then use that air to fire the quills with great force.
Equipment: None. Rating: *****

E

Grass Eel Areas Sighted: Out West Gate, Crossing area.
Description: No more than eighteen inches long, this grass eel has a nasty disposition entirely out of proportion with its size. In fact it looks more like a green bootlace than anything else. The eel more than makes up in speed and agility what it lacks in strength, however, and a score of bites from a score of grass eels would not be a pleasant experience.
Equipment: None. Rating: ***
