FORAGE

This command is used to forage and generate herbs in the wild.

Every time you forage you receive an open 1d100 roll. The result is compared to an hidden threshold, which varies according to the kind of herb you desire. You will successfully forage if you roll over the threshold AND you are in a room where the herb can be found.

Many factors exist which can raise or lower the success threshold: (1) kneeling lowers the threshold; (2) one empty hand lowers the threshold some, two empty hands even more; (3) hand scars will raise the threshold; (4) the rangers' forage spell will lower the threshold; (5) the levels you have, the lower the threshold; (6) rangers have the lowest thresholds, wizards and sorcerers the highest; and (7) the area where you can find an herb may be less than perfect for that herb, thus raising the threshold.

Note that if your left hand is not free while foraging, the herb will be left on the ground.  Also note that while foraging produces one-bite herbs, the spell "Herb Production" appears to produce herbs with two to four bites.

Some of the herbs available in Elanthia are listed in the Herbs and Remedies Guide.

FORAGE <HERB>
